Enjoy the beach at Avalon! This home is a wonderful location for summer fun – kite flying, a beach picnic and campfire, or sunset strolls. In the winter, this cozy retreat is a great getaway to watch winter storms from the living room or enjoy clamming in season. Watch wildlife from the living room too! Avalon has its own private trail to the beach. Or take a short drive into Long Beach for restaurants, shopping and other entertainment.
Avalon sleeps a maximum of 8 people total. The first floor has the living and dining rooms, with large picture windows with that great ocean view. There’s cable TV and a DVD and VCR for the evening’s entertainment and a stereo CD/tape player too. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher and microwave. There’s a full bath with tub shower also on the first floor, along with one bedroom with a queen bed. Upstairs is a half bath and mix of sleeping areas: an area at the top of the stairs with 1 twin bed and a twin trundle bed, a pass-through area with a TV and a twin bed and a semi-private alcove with a double bed. For your comfort, smoking is not allowed at Avalon. Your canine friend is welcome for an inexpensive pet fee of $15.00 per pet (no more than 2 pets, please). He’s welcome to roam at the beach but should be kept on leash at the house.
There’s even more to explore on the Long Beach Peninsula – all 26 plus miles of it. Great shopping and a variety of restaurants are a short drive away, plus lots of things for the kids to do. Long Beach is about 5 miles to the south. The Bolstad beach approach is a hub of activity year-round, but especially during the summer months, with the International Kite Festival in August and of course fireworks on Independence Day and New Year’s Eve. There’s miniature golf, the arcade and carnival rides are nearby.
Just a couple miles south of Long Beach are Ilwaco and Cape Disappointment as well as Waikiki Beach and the North Head lighthouse. There are some great art galleries at the Port of Ilwaco, and during the summer months there’s Saturday Market too, with a variety of local arts and crafts, foods, flowers and plants for sale. You can even see pirates at times. Ilwaco also has its own fireworks in July. The Port also features some fine restaurants with local seafood offerings created by our great chefs. Or take a charter trip for salmon, halibut, tuna or sturgeon.
If you drive north from the house to Ocean Park there are bookstores, restaurants and gift stores and more beaches to explore. Visit Jack’s Country Store to see this historic yet current meeting place. In Nahcotta you can buy fresh oysters and enjoy the wonderful views of Willapa Bay. On the extreme north end of the Peninsula, the place to see is Ledbetter Point State Park -- it’s a wonderful place for hiking to the beach or to the bay. There’s lots of wildlife to see in our local parks. Keep your eyes open for bald eagles – we see many of them here.
A sunny location with nothing but the dunes between you and the beach – that’s the beauty of Avalon.
